In 2022, three groups of teenagers from across the UK went to stay at an outdoor activity centre, deep in the mountains of Wales. A terrible snowstorm isolated them from the rest of the world. Cut off from rescue, family and worse, social media, the teenagers turned on one another. Taken from police interviews and reconstructed from accounts of the survivors, here is what happened…
It’s difficult to express how brilliant NT Connections is. It has become a fundamental part of my students’ educational experience. They learn and grow so much through this process that goes beyond their college and their course. Participation in Connections gives them a taste of what it means to work in this industry – the mind-set and dedication required to produce work of the highest standard possible.

During investigations into a theme for my FMP I was drawn to and fascinated by all the different light sources around me such as LED lights and glow in the dark materials. This led me to look at the works of artists who used light in their work such as Cristoforo Scorpiniti, Dan Flavin and Adela Andea as well as fashion designer Hussein Chalayan.
Andea incorporates ropes and fibres in spherical forms that light up and create an unusual glow and brightness which I loved, whereas Chalayan has managed to successfully play with small LED lights incorporated within his garments that are able to shine and project linear lights when switched on in the dark.
For my own work I wanted to investigate how I could work with the idea of light and colour in my fashion work. I investigated a range of fashion designers and artists who used colour and light in their work as well as looking at alternative ways to create abstract designs and silhouettes.
By exploring different sketchbook work and playing with other silhouettes I was able to take the best ideas forward into 3D shapes. I initially tried these on the mini mannequin and then to a large-scale wearable garment through trials in pattern cutting and construction techniques.
You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown (2022 Show) performed by Level 3 Musical Theatre Students
Act 1
Act 2
End of Act 2
You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown is a 1967 musical with music and lyrics by Clark Gesner and (in a 1999 revision) Andrew Lippa. It is based on the characters created by cartoonistCharles M. Schulz in his comic stripPeanuts. Here are our students performing this much-loved musical to a packed Evolve theatre earlier this year.
Students have been engaged in the production of media content for skills development in Script Writing, Cinematography and Video Editing. They have researched, planned and produced videos for various projects, including exploring a narrative theme, The Box and TV advert production for Sony products. Students also explored the theme of ‘Identity’ where they drew upon how they feel about their own image, their ethnicity, their social groupings and their personal tastes. They then planned and produced a series of short films based on this.
The standard of work has been excellent, with students adapting to the restrictions presented by lockdown with limited access to locations and actors, and team work being adversely affected. However, all students have proved themselves to be able to work independently and use their initiative in making good out of a difficult situation.
The work produced this year shows genuine creativity and imaginative uses of available resources.
